Glazers have four Man Utd transfer targets who can fulfil Erik ten Hag wish in January

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag did not rule out signing a new right-back when asked by Red Devils legend Gary Neville. Impressed by the performance of Diogo Dalot, Neville questioned Ten Hag over whether the Premier League side will continue to chase a replacement for the Portuguese ace and team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But Ten Hag was surprisingly coy despite Dalot’s excellent performances this season. “We need two good fullbacks [on the left and right] because we have a lot of games to come,” the Dutchman responded on Sky Sports, not ruling out a possible transfer.

With Wan-Bissaka struggling since his £50million switch from Crystal Palace in 2019 and Dalot seemingly not completely convincing Ten Hag, United could look for a new right-back in January. Express Sport looks at four options.

Jeremie Frimpong

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, former Manchester City prospect Jeremie Frimpong is highly thought of by Old Trafford chiefs. Now at Bayer Leverkusen via a spell at Celtic, Frimpong has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising full-backs.

The 21-year-old has scored a remarkable five goals from right-back already this season. His attacking talents could give him an advantage over Dalot and Wan-Bissaka – with the latter’s work in the final third under particular scrutiny.

Frimpong has seven goals and 12 assists in 64 appearances for the Bundesliga club. Crucially, the youngster is also a very good defender with room for improvement.

Nordi Mukiele

Perhaps the most expensive target on this list would be Paris Saint-Germain ace Nordi Mukiele. United were strongly linked with a move for the Frenchman before he joined the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer.

PSG paid just £14m for Mukiele in July, and the defender’s price tag is likely to have shot up since.
