Helen Mirren broke down in tears over wardrobe on The Queen ‘Terrible cardigan’

“She is happiest grabbing a shirt, pulling on another terrible cardigan, a tweedy skirt, comfortable shoes and a rain mac and she’s off.

“I do remember suddenly nailing the walk. I had the outfit on and I was in the garden and then I got it!”

Speaking to the Radio Times, Helen also revealed she wrote the Queen a letter, to show her respect and let the monarch know she would be depicting a very difficult time in her life.

The film takes place in 1997, when Princess Diana was killed in a car crash, and the Queen must decide whether or not to come back to London to mark the occasion.
