James Martin leaves Dermot O'Leary with head in hands after pet mishap: ‘Didn’t realise’

This Morning favourite Dermot O’Leary and Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page were joined by TV chef James Martin on Sunday’s The Pet Show alongside his pet pooch, Cooper. The energetic cocker spaniel and his owner took a seat on the sofa as James recalled his fondest memories with his pet as well as taking on the ITV show’s own canine obstacle course.

However, when recalling one particularly “cheeky” story about Cooper, The Pet Show’s Dermot didn’t know where to look.

The moment came when Joanna asked: “He seems quite cheeky. I mean, does he get up to all-sorts, what’s he like?”

The Saturday Morning host replied: “Oh spaniels are, yeah. This one particularly.

“The worst one was I disappeared off to work one day and I loaded the stuff in the back of the car, it was about 250 miles to the restaurant.”

Later in the show, James and Cooper took on The Pet Show’s obstacle course.

Complete with a seesaw, tunnel and selfie stage, the ITV chef and his pooch had to complete the run in the fastest time possible.

However, things were far from plain sailing as Cooper incurred two time penalties for failing to complete certain stages.

Nevertheless, with a time of one minute 22 seconds, James and Cooper topped the show’s leaderboard above its previous guests.
