Zoe Ball talks lack of contact with son amid long distance relationship 'I never know!'

BBC Radio 2 Breakfast presenter Zoe Ball, 50, shares 20-year-old son Woody and 11-year-old daughter Nelly with her ex-husband Norman Cook, best known by his DJ name Fatboy Slim. Speaking to Martin Kemp today, she discussed the lack of contact with her son after he moved out for university.

Former EastEnders star Martin joined Zoe to discuss his show and bond with son Roman Kemp.

During their chat he said he felt like he had lost his best friend after his son moved out.

Agreeing, Zoe said: “I know what you mean because my boy has gone off to uni down in Bristol, I never know where he is or how he is.”

The radio host went on to say he had popped back home yesterday and she asked him to contact her more often.

She told him: “’I just need to know you’re safe’.

“Sometimes I just text him going, ‘Are you alright Bear?’ If he texts back I know he’s alive.”

Zoe is believed to live in Lewes, Sussex, a three hour drive from Bristol, with her partner Michael Reed.

Woody moved out to begin his new life at university back in September.

Discussing their reaction, he told The Mirror: “Why would you go on reality TV?

“We’ve tried to protect you from the outside world!”

Despite their concerns, Zoe supported Woody at the live final, where he came in fifth place.

The radio presenter has previously joked her children may “need therapy” in later life due to her “bad parenting”.

She told The Guardian: “They make my day, every day.
