The expert pointed to the third wave currently being experienced in Europe as a sign of what could happen to the United States.

He continued: “We are actually seeing that in Europe and quite frankly we generally are about three to four weeks behind the dynamics of the outbreak that we see in Europe.

“So given that the European are surging back up, that is really that is is a risk that we will be doing the same if we don’t pull back.

“We need to keep doing the public health measures that we talk about all the time.”

The leading immunologist also argued in support of the AstraZeneca vaccine following negative press attention the drug has received.

“It was not necessary because if you look at the data they are quite good.

“When they put it into the press release it wasn’t completely accurate.”
