Alan Igbon dead: How did Coronation Street star Alan Igbon die?

Soap star Alan Igbon has died aged 68, according to his niece. The British actor was best known for his work across ITV soap Coronation Street and Channel 4’s Brookside. Igbon also had several other acclaimed television show credits to his name.

How did Alan Igbon die?

Igbon’s niece Lee-Ann Igbon posted news of his death on social media yesterday.

In a touching tribute on Facebook, she said: “Early December 2020 my mums brother Alan Igbon my uncle passed away peaceful.

“He is well known for being an actor in Boys from the black stuff, Scum, GBH, Coronation st, Brookside and many more. R.i.e.p xxx [sic].”

No cause of death has been given for the star but Express.co.uk will update this article when any information becomes available.

Michael Smiley shared an image of the star and tweeted: “RIP Alan Igbon, a fantastic actor.”

Igbon’s fellow Brookside co-star Louis Emerick said: “Another sad loss, #AlanAdjIgbon..Riep Adj. Boys from the blackstuff, Scum ,Gbh, Brooky, Corrie, Adj graced them all.

“A very underrated actor, Adj was an inspiration to me, he and @PaulBarberActor made me realise ‘yes it can be done’. Goodbye Adj, never forgotten.”

Born on May 29, 1960 in Hulme, Manchester, Ibgon started getting screen roles in the mid-1970s.

 

“It still stands as TV’s most complete dramatic response to the Thatcher era and as a lament to the end of a male, working class British culture.”

The actor went on to star in shows No Problem! and The Front Line as well as G.B.H., according to IMDb.

Ibon also appeared in classic British comedy Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

He appeared as Tony Stewart in Coronation Street in the early 2000s.

One of his last screen credits was in the BBC medical daytime soap Doctors.
