In the photo, Richard was pictured wearing a tie which had the word “Countdown” written on it.
Unfortunately for the late presenter, who died in 2005, only the “Count” part of the design was visible to viewers, while his lapel mic covered up the “O”.
As a result, Richard’s tie awkwardly appeared to spell c***.
Carol admitted while recalling the incident: “OMG OMG OMG We were so innocent we hadn’t noticed that when Whiters sat down behind the desk, the DOWN of COUNTDOWN had disappeared and then he’d clipped his mic over the O….leaving just C***T**** left to be seen.”
