She sure knows how to look fabulous: Carol Alt has talked to DailyMail.com exclusively on her 60th birthday about staying young looking; here she is seen on the left in 2019 and on the right in 1988 as a model

Alt is known for sticking with a raw diet as she has authored several cook books on the subject.

The beauty also said that bread and processed foods cause damage because the body does not know what to do with them.

‘People went on those low fat or no fat diets which did not work out,’ explained Carol. ‘That is because when they take the fat out, they add sugar.

‘The body wants good fats like olive oil and avocados.

‘Did you know you can drink a ton of water but still feel dehydrated because you are not eating enough good fats?’ said the New York City resident.

‘It is important to include fat in your diet, and it will show on your skin, hair, nails.’

She started eating raw after she felt her looks were not as good as they could be.

‘When I started eating better my body and my skin started looking better, it was incredible,’ she said.

‘I work hard to look good because I love acting, I want to keep doing it, it is my goal, so that is my priority,’ she added.

Alt’s next acting gig is Paper Empire with Kelsey Grammer which will get a shoot date once the COVID-19 spike settles down.

She also just made a movie with Eric Roberts titled My Last Best Friend about two identical-looking men.

Exercise also plays an important role for the Thunder In Paradise actress.

The Long Island native said the most important thing with working out is being consistent.

‘You need to do a little every day, but don’t kill yourself,’ she said. ‘You can’t push yourself too hard or else you will get sore and not want to do it again the next day. So do a little every day.

‘I did the One Minute Workout on my podcast and it was really popular because people wanted to know if one minute made a difference. It does, if you do the exercises very well.

‘It is better to do one minute of challenging lunges that 10 minutes of sloppy ones.’

Carol also gave advice to younger models.

‘I would have to say to the new crop of models that they have to look at their goals. If they want to work longterm they have to take care of their health, and eat right,’ she said.

When asked how Vogue model and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kendall Jenner should deal with her anxiety, which she has admitted has caused her body to freeze up at times, Carol said she should look at her diet.

‘Anxiety comes from a poor diet,’ said Carol. ‘It is from coffee, Coca-Cola, fruit juice, processed foods, things a body cannot handle.’

The animal rescue advocate, who donates to Denise’s Rescue, suggested Jenner overhaul what she eats.

‘Kendall has plenty of money, she should hired a chef to make sure she gets the right foods,’ said the author of Eating in the Raw: A Beginner’s Guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Looking Younger the Raw-Food Way.

But Carol did say that if a model just wants to work nonstop and that is her goal, she should go for it.

‘I understand a lot of young models don’t want to take breaks because the work is so good. Who am I to say? I did the same thing when I started out,’ she said.

And Alt added that when she was young she would work 18 hour days. ‘I had never earned money like that before so I worked nonstop. But I did get exhausted eventually and had to overhaul my life with the right diet and exercise.’

As far as her birthday plans, Alt said she was going to have 17 people at a fete at downtown Wall Street 55 in New York City.

The room, the food, the raw cake, the candles were all set to go then at the last minute Carol decided to cancel due to COVID-19 even though it was going to be a socially distanced event with masks.

‘It is just too much of a risk right now and I did not feel comfortable,’ Carol told DailyMail.com.

‘I had friends flying in from all over the place. But after I canceled, everyone said I was smart. I would never forgive myself if someone got sick.’

Instead she will dine with just one close friend and keep it very simple.

‘I have never seen anything like this before, it is so strange, but we have to follow the rules and be careful, there is no other way,’ said the catwalk queen.

This comes months after she talked about her experience with sexual harassment as she sat down for a chat with the Accutron Show podcast with Bill McCuddy.

The bombshell revealed that she experienced plenty of harassment in the Eighties. She was hit on by old men wanting to lure her to photo shoots, had to take minders to hotel meetings with movie producers and lost out on starring on an Aaron Spelling TV show – he made Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place – because the casting director dumped her for a woman he fell for.

Alt was candid during her sit down where she unleashed her past. ‘There were a lot of not nice people,’ said the former Lancome model.

‘I had been stopped on the street many times, I was 18, and they would say OH MY GOD you look like a model, and offer me shoots, they asked me to come with them right then to their studio,’ she said, knowing even as a teen the men were most likely trapping her with bad intentions.

‘The best advice my agency ever gave me was have the person call us. If they are legit they will call and you get the job. If they are not legit, they will never call.’

When asked about the Hollywood casting couch the actress said, ‘I was always smart because if the agency sent you on an early morning to meet a producer, I always brought a girlfriend to stand outside the door.

‘Funny enough I auditioned for Steven Spielberg in a hotel room, but there people there and I knew it was legitimate.

‘You have to protect yourself and kind of let them know, and says, my friend is outside, can they come in, you do it innocently.’

‘I lost jobs because they knew I wasn’t that type,’ she said. Carol added she built a reputation for being a smart cookie. ‘I think you get back what you put out.’

Then there was that time she lost out on a big TV show because the casting director dropped her for a woman he wanted to bed.  ‘I was hired for an Aaron Spelling show and my manager called me and said do you know this guy? It was a casting person and I was like yeah it’s my friend, and they said he took the job away from me.

‘And I know why he took it away. He said the girl he hired for the show, he was dating her.’

But here was not a happy ending for the casting director.  ‘Sometimes the table are turned,’ she said. ‘She got the job and dumped the guy.’

But she also reminded listeners that Me Too is very serious. ‘It’s a very touchy – I don’t mean to make light of it – a woman being seriously attacked, it’s nothing to laugh at. I don’t know what I would do if that happened to me and I marvel at the strength of some of these women who pick themselves up and go on and have a voice.’
