Kate Middleton jewellery shows 'precarious times' as she swaps 'regal luxury for modesty'

Kate Middleton and Prince William have started to carry out engagements again now coronavirus lockdown restrictions have relaxed. When stepping out, the Duchess of Cambridge may have sent a message with her choice of jewellery.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, 77 Diamonds head of bespoke design Anna Byers explained why the royal may have chosen simpler looks.

She said: “Kate’s careful jewellery choices convey a delicate refinement that chimes with our precarious times.

“During her post lockdown public appearances while demonstrating her support for members of the British public in different walks of life, Kate’s jewels have conveyed elegance, professionalism and a touch of formality, all coupled with innate modesty.

“It is also worth noting that Kate on one occasion in these pictures has teamed gold and silver together, wearing casual gold circle earrings with a silver disc pendant necklace.

DON’T MISS

“I suspect many may agree that if Kate, our future Queen, can mix gold and silver so nonchalantly, then what’s stopping the rest of us?”

Since joining the Royal Family in 2011, Kate has been praised for her stylish and affordable fashion choices.

For formal events, she has sometimes worn rare and expensive jewels from the royal collection.

The royal will usually wear her sapphire and diamond engagement ring which is estimated to be worth around £300,000.

“We all love a bit of high octane sparkle to lift the spirits but there’s not much room for dramatic, escapist, regal high luxury and opulence in Kate’s wardrobe choices right now.

“The time for luxury and partying will come, but for now it’s all about timeless, conservative style and relatability – and getting the job done.”

With many safety measures still in place, the expert suggested the Duchess is saving her lavish jewellery for happier times.
