Verstappen was fastest in Free Practice 1 on Friday morning and will be desperate to carry that pace into qualifying and Sunday’s race.
Marko is hoping for a Mercedes slip up at a track where he admits Red Bull have experienced their fair share of struggles.
“The track has never been very convenient for us, but we are still far from throwing the shotgun into the grain,” Marko said.
“At some point, Mercedes must have bad luck. The compressed calendar makes everything even more difficult.”
