Mike Bushell: Strictly star finally returns to BBC Breakfast job after ‘unpaid leave’

Mike Bushell, 54, said it was “great” to be back filming for BBC Breakfast this week.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who took time off from his presenting duties to take part in the BBC ballroom dancing show and subsequent Live! tour, will officially return to the sofa in two weeks time.

On Wednesday he took to Twitter to share a picture of himself on location with a member of the BBC Breakfast team as they filmed an upcoming sports segment.

A grinning Mike could be seen in a dark padded jumper and spotty shirt alongside his casually-dressed co-worker in the social media snap.

The TV star captioned the post, which he shared with his 55,700 followers: “Great to be back filming today with @ksadders for a special thing coming soon on @BBCBreakfast.”

He went on to add: “Great to reminisce about some of the 100s of sports we have filmed together.”

Over the years, Mike has tried a number of different sports and activities for his segment on the show, including some weird and wonderful pastimes such as shin kicking and swamp soccer.

Fans of the BBC star took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts about his upcoming return to the breakfast show.

One user wrote: “Can’t wait to see it!!”

Another added: “Looking forward to seeing you on the sofa again.”

In a separate post, Mike, who was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones, 30, in the most recent series of the dancing competition, said he hoped to inspire people to try new sports.

He also thanked his partner for showing him “what dance can do for you”.
