PS4, Nintendo Switch getting new free download this week – but there's a catch

PS4 and Nintendo Switch gamers will soon be able to get hold of a new free download. Both the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop will be listing a new free download soon which gives a taster of an anticipated game. On Thursday February 6 Persona fans will be able to try out the new P5 spinoff Persona 5 Scramble – however there’s a catch.

Persona 5 Scramble is first arriving in Japan, with the Dynasty Warriors-esque action game out in the Land of the Rising Sun later this month.

And the free demo which is arriving on the PS4 and Switch this week will be listed on the Japanese PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.

However, that doesn’t mean that gamers in the UK or US won’t be able to play it.

To download these PS4 and Nintendo Switch demos you’ll need to create either a Japanese PSN or Japanese Nintendo account.

You will need to enter a real email address when setting up these accounts to verify an account as well as a password.

The only slightly tricky thing is when you’re asked to enter an address as your will have to input a Japanese one.

To get round this, you can put in the postcode for a Japanese business which should help you clear this stage.

Of course, setting up these accounts will require you to navigate menus that are in Japanese.

The Google Translate smartphone app has a camera feature that lets you scan Japanese characters to translate them into English.

Or alternatively you can turn to the numerous step-by-step guides on how to do this which can be found on the internet.
