How Man Utd would have looked if Ed Woodward had signed all January transfer targets

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward was able to bring Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo to Old Trafford during the January transfer window. The club went into the month, though, with more names on their radar. Express Sport now takes a look at how the Red Devils would have lined up had they got all the players they were eyeing through the door.

Donny van De Beek

Manchester United know they’re still short in midfield, despite the arrival of Fernandes.

And the club, at the start of the month, were eyeing a deal for Ajax star Donny van de Beek.

United rate the Dutchman, who has scored eight goals and registered four assists from 19 Eredivisie matches.

Had he signed, he would have likely slotted in alongside both Fernandes and Paul Pogba.

And United could try and land the 22-year-old again when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

Erling Braut Haaland

Before United turned their attentions to Odion Ighalo, they’d wanted to sign Erling Braut Haaland.

Solskaer was convinced he would land his man, with the 19-year-old even telling his compatriot he’d make the move.

But United, in the end, missed out.

Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund instead, with super-agent Mino Raiola ensuring his client move to Germany.

And, with hours of the transfer window to go, Woodward ended up striking a deal for Ighalo instead.
