Happy birthday Michelle! Barack Obama shares unseen pictures of ex-FLOTUS to mark occasion

Four black and white images uploaded to Twitter by Barack on his wife’s 56th birthday show her holding him close, him kissing her cheek, the ex-President hugging her, and finally him embracing her with his back to the camera. He captioned the pictures: “In every scene, you are my star, @MichelleObama! Happy birthday, baby!” Admirers of the powerful American couple were quick to echo his sentiment.

One said: “This is what a REAL First Couple looks like!!”

Another said: “Happy Birthday FLOTUS!”

A third added: “The best president and First Lady of my lifetime.”

Another said: “Happy birthday to the best first lady ever. I’m so grateful my daughter had you as a role model.”

A fifth comment read: “Happy birthday, indeed, Michelle!

“Now go do something completely ridiculous. It is YOUR day, after all.”

It comes as the former FLOTUS yesterday made a heartwarming gesture by agreeing to take part in a campaign to raise awareness of violence against women.

The ‘Just Because I am a Woman’ campaign is the brainchild of Italian artist AleXsandro Palombo.

Michelle is one of a series of top female politicians, whose faces have been doctored to make it look as though they have been beaten and roughed up.

Other prominent politicians taking part include Hillary Clinton, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French first lady Brigitte Macron.

Michelle has been an active campaigner for women’s rights and girls’ education.

While she was at the White House, she launched Let Girls Learn, a US government-wide initiative to help girls around the world go to school and stay in school.

In 2018, the former first lady and her husband set up the Girls Opportunity Alliance through the Obama Foundation.

The charity aims to ensure that girls around the world have lasting access to education.
