Patrick Vieira had no interest in Arsenal job

Patrick Vieira has said there was no chance of him taking over from Unai Emery as the Arsenal manager.

Vieira was strongly linked with the post at Arsenal before the club decided on Mikel Arteta.

But the Gunners legend insists he never gave it much thought about the speculation linking him with his former club.

“No, but there is no place in my mind to have those kind of conversations,” he told the Daily Mail.

“My focus is here [at Nice]. This project suits who I am and what I want to achieve.”

Guardiola answers questions on Stones rumours

Pep Guardiola has refused to talk about speculation linking John Stones to Arsenal.

Reports emerged this week suggesting Stones was a target for Arsenal, although Mikel Arteta was quick to deny such interest.

Now Guardiola has faced questions for the first time since those rumours came out.

“I’m not going to talk about the rumours, the players linked with us or the other clubs,” he said.

“We’ve been linked with a lot of clubs. I’m not going to answer.”

Mertens ‘evaluating’ offer

Arsenal have reportedly made an approach to Dries Mertens about the possibility of signing him as a free agent in the summer, and the striker is said to be considering it.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno, Napoli have resigned to losing the forward at the end of the season with his contract running down.

And the report states there has been an approach by both West Ham and Arsenal.

Mertens is said to have rejected an offer from the Hammers but Arsenal have been handed some promising news with the forward thinking about a move to the Emirates.
