Up to 60 cars involved in pile-up crash on Maine interstate

Between 50 and 60 vehicles were involved in a pile-up Tuesday morning on an interstate in Maine, police said.

There are multiple injuries, Maine State Police. The extent of the injuries is unclear.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate-95 in Carmel, about 90 miles northeast of Lewiston. The interstate will remain closed for much of the day, and traffic is being diverted.
