Speaking in 2013, she told The Sun: “I burst into tears. I was devastated.
“I just thought my health, money, career have all been taken from me, and now even my engagement ring — the one thing that represents what is solid in my life — has gone.”
As well as giving up expensive clothes and jewellery, the actress was forced to part with the engagement ring she had been given.
Martine added: “I had given them everything I had so when the ring went as well it was heartbreaking.
“I just felt like nothing was going my way, and that even a symbol of something so personal as falling in love with somebody was being taken away from me too.
