Rick died in the crash because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and fans will know that Rick has hardly ever worn a seatbelt ever since the show began.
However, interestingly enough one of the few times Rick does wear his seatbelt is after his breakthrough therapy session.
The session happened in the episode titled Pickle Rick where the group has family therapy.
This seemed to momentarily suppress his death wish, but clearly it returned with a vengeance.
Rick and Morty season 4 airs in the US on Adult Swim on Sundays and will be coming to Channel 4 in January 2020.
