Deepika Padukone is an Indian beauty who has acted in a number of major Bollywood films, and took to the world stage with the Vin Diesel hit xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Now the actress, who is married to fellow actor Ranveer Singh is set to star in a roster of new films, set to come out in 2020 and 2021. One of these is the badminton biopic ’83, as the lead star’s wife Romi Dev.
Another project will see Deepika on-screen in Chhapaak, playing a real-life acid attack survivor.
But this year has been incredibly quiet for the popular actress – the last time one of her films came out was in 2018 – and fans are convinced it’s because she got married last year and has been taking a break from film sets.
Commenting on Indian news site Pinkvilla, one person angrily claimed: “I don’t understand why actresses lose roles when they marry but it’s cool for the guys? Wtf kind of double standard is that?
“That industry has so many archaic problems and needs to rid of these old school people once and for all. Open the doors to the 21st century already.

“Deepika is not getting any movies now since she’s married (same story as Anushka),” another wrote. “Katrina wanted this movie since it’s with Kabir Khan (her friend and director of Tiger..) That’s the reason behind her recent friendship drama with Ranveer.
“But Ranveer definitely has a say since he’s the hero..”
Others offered a different opinion trying to clarify the reason, as one said: “Deepika is shooting for her upcoming movie Chhapaak.
“Who says actresses don’t get films after marriage. Karina has done three films after her marriage.”
“There doesn’t seem to be many scripts at the moment by the sounds of things,” another said. “That or, far too many actors. Demand v supply issue in the industry.”
Speaking about their excitement about Deepika starring in ’83, another fan shared: “I’m glad because we need more Deepika movies, lots and lots more.
“Although I can’t wait to see Ranveer & Katrina in a movie together, a comedy… lol, that would be awesome!”
A source at the publication shared more details about Deepika’s next two roles via a source.
“She and Kabir have been friends for years now. So she decided to come on board as a co-producer, too. This will be the second venture under her banner.”
Both films are expected to be released in 2020, and Deepika already has another in the pipeline called Ramayana for 2022.
But perhaps the most exciting is xXx 4, which will see the actress returning to her role alongside action hero Vin Diesel.
Whether the star intentionally took a year off or not, she looks set for plenty more excitement over the next few years.
