Carrie Symonds: Boris Johnson’s girlfriend wears ethical £475 Tory blue coat to conference

Carrie Symonds and partner Boris Johnson headed to the Conservative Party annual conference in Manchester yesterday. The couple put on a show of affection as they were photographed arriving at a hotel ahead of the four-day event. They were seen walking down the street with Carrie’s arm tucked into Boris’s as they strolled. Carrie was well prepared for the gloomy English weather thanks to a calf-length blue coat.

The blue colouring could well have been a subtle nod to the colour associated with the Tory party.

The woollen coat was designed by British designer Isabelle Fox and cost £475.

It is dubbed The Amelia after Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932.

Carrie’s coat was fastened with a belt around her waist, highlighting her slim build.

Made from English wool, it featured a V neckline with small lapels.

Carrie is becoming well-known for shunning fast fashion in favour of more ethical clothing and, appropriately, The Amelia contains no microplastics or polyester.

Boris’s girlfriend wore a simple white blouse with a high frilly neckline underneath the stylish coat.

She also wore slim-fitting black trousers and completed the look with black heels.

As for jewellery, Carrie wore rings on her hands and small delicate gold hoops in her ear.

She kept her makeup natural with a slick of colour on her lips.

Boris, who wore a suit with a dark blue tie, and Carrie seemed in good spirits ahead of the conference.

The Prime Minister’s arrival comes amid threats the Tory party conference could be overshadowed by moves to oust him at Westminster.

Boris is also under pressure over his links with businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri while he was London mayor.

Earlier this month, Carrie’s top fashion sense was in the spotlight when she arrived at Aberdeen Airport in Scotland ahead of a dinner with Boris and the Queen at her holiday home of Balmoral.

Carrie showed off her style in the thick tweed shift dress which cut off just above her knees.

She prepared for the changing seasons with a pair of black tights and black boots.

She kept her accessories to a minimum and carried a long black bag resting over her right shoulder.

Her blonde locks were worn down and styled into a side parting.
