iPhone 11 Pro just beat the Mate 30 Pro and Galaxy Note 10 where it really counts

iPhone 11 Pro Max – the most expensive smartphone that Apple has ever launched – was unveiled earlier this month. The handset is easily distinguishable thanks to its new triple camera system and midnight green colour variant.

Although it’s easy to get excited about the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s external upgrades, it might be the new internals that make the biggest difference.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is not only powered by the tech giant’s next-generation A13 Bionic chipset, but also comes stuffed with a much bigger battery than any other iPhone before.

Although Apple never reveals exact battery specifications during its keynotes or on its website, inquisitive fans who have taken the phone apart revealed that it totes an impressive 3,969mAh cell.

To demonstrate just how mighty of an upgrade the iPhone 11 Pro Max is, you might be surprised to find out its predecessor, the iPhone Xs Max, only housed a comparatively small 3,174mAh cell.

During its keynote, Apple claimed the iPhone 11 Pro Max should last five hours longer than the Xs Max on a single charge. And it seems the firm was right to brag about its new device’s supreme longevity.

YouTube channel Mrwhosetheboss pitted the handset against Huawei’s new Mate 30 Pro, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+, the standard iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 and found Apple’s maxed-out phone came out on top.

Mrwhosetheboss put the devices through a set of strenuous tests to push each’s battery to its limits. This included running benchmarking applications, graphically intense games, social media, and more.

As the hours ticked by, more and more smartphones succumbed to the exhaustive test, waving the white flag as they powered off.

Apple’s iPhone 11 was the first to exit the test, lasting a total of five hours and 21 minutes. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+ was next, achieving a time of six hours and 31 minutes.

The regular iPhone 11 Pro fell third after six hours and 42 minutes, leaving only Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max to battle it out for the longevity throne.

To the Chinese firm’s disappointment, its unreleased flagship switched off first, lasting a whopping eight hours and 13 minutes.

Finally, Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max powered down a little over 15 minutes later – the phone totalled up a final time of eight hours and 32 minutes.

Although the tussle between the Apple and Huawei flagships was close, the iPhone ultimately took home the title.

It’s worth noting while the test conducted by Mrwhosetheboss was extensive, it may not be fully representative of real-world usage. The YouTuber put each device through a series of extreme tests that would certainly not be conducted during an average day.

With that said, we were thoroughly impressed with the battery life offered by the iPhone 11 Pro Max when we reviewed it earlier this month.

In fact, Technology Editor David Snelling went so far as to say the phone could get through two days on a single charge with light usage.

Express.co.uk is yet to test the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but we will definitely put it head-to-head with Apple’s latest and greatest when we get our hands on it.
