Following in Sony’s wake, Microsoft decided to reveal their official Games with Gold October 2019 lineup earlier than expected.
Fans have grown used to the big Xbox announcements coming in the final days of each month in 2019.
However, this week saw the October Xbox One free games announced, which will be available to download next week.
Lacking a clear AAA game to underpin the four Xbox titles launching in October, Microsoft has provided a nice mix of genres.
And while the new games were revealed earlier than usual, that doesn’t mean they will be launched any differently.

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.
The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
Gamers can expect these Xbox Live Gold rewards to go live in waves, with the first being released on October 1.
This will include Tembo the Badass Elephant on Xbox One and Disney: Bolt via Backwards Compatibility.
Tembo the Badass Elephant is a side-scrolling platform adventure developed by Game Freak and is one of the few titles available from the developer on Xbox One.
“Shell City is under siege and only one thing can save it: the peanut-chompin’, villain stompin’, Tembo the Badass Elephant,” the official description reads.
“Under attack from the devastating forces of Phantom and their terrifying war machines, help the National Army defend the city by smashing, punching and butt-stomping the enemy.
“This action-adventure title weighs in at seven and a half tons of fun.”
And on October 16, the final free games for the month will be made downloadable to all.
This includes Friday the 13th: The Game on Xbox One and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for Backwards Compatibility.
“Celebrate the spooky month of October with the horror title, Friday the 13th: The Game. Stalk, ambush and strike fear in the hearts of many as you take control of the legendary Jason Voorhees,” the official game description reads.
“Or try to survive the night as the Camp Crystal Lake counsellors by either hiding as best you can or bringing the fight directly to Jason. Be wary, the woods are his, and you never know when or where Jason will strike.”
Lacking the review scores of last month, this combination of titles still does the job of providing a mix of gameplay to enjoy.
And Ninja Gaiden 3 looks set to be a popular choice among Xbox 360 fans.
“Take part in intense and brutal action in Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. The legendary ninja, Ryu Hayabusa returns, but with a deadly curse threatening to destroy him.
“Take control of him or his fellow ninja: Ayane, Kasumi or Momiji, as the battles are sharpened, and the difficulty raised to deliver the ultimate action game experience.”
Xbox Live Gold fans still have time to claim any of the current September games before they disappear next week.
This includes Hitman The Complete First Season on Xbox One and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on Backwards Compatibility.
