Tom Hanks Will Take Home A Lifetime Achievement Award At The Golden Globes

According to a report from Reuters, Tom Hanks is gearing up to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes soon. On Tuesday, today, the 24th of September, the HFPA, or the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, confirmed Tom would receive a Cecil B. DeMille award while at the ceremony on the 5th of January.

Mr. Hanks first came to prominence in the late 1980s with the movie, Big, in which he started as a teenager who one day wakes up in the form of a grown man. Later on, Mr. Hanks earned several Oscars and Golden Globes including for Philadelphia as well as Forrest Gump.

Lorenzo Soria, speaking on the iconic actor’s reputation, claimed the public has grown to love so many of his characters over the years. She stated that Mr. Hanks was as “compelling as he is on the silver screen,” in addition to being a great person behind the scenes.

Reportedly, Tom is getting ready to appear in a new movie in November based on the life and times of Mister Rogers. The movie, based on the US children’s television icon, is called A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood.

Furthermore, Tom starred in other movies, including Sleepless in Seattle, Private Ryan, and Toy Story. Past actors and Hollywood icons to receive the award include Harrison Ford, Jeff Bridges, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, as well as Steven Spielberg.

Perhaps what makes Mr. Hanks a likable actor is his perceived down-to-earth vibe. Earlier in the year, the Forrest Gump alum claimed he wasn’t the type of actor to completely avoid seeing his movies, however, he stated that he would watch each one once.

According to Mr. Hanks, there’s no reason to revisit a movie you’ve seen more than once because it never really changes. Others, however, would argue that upon a second or even third viewing, one can catch what they had previously missed, especially in the case of more sophisticated movies.
