The Walking Dead season 10: ‘Run it into the ground’ Negan star spills on show's future

The Walking Dead is set to return in less than two weeks and fans are eager to know where the show’s future is headed. Ahead of the show’s milestone season 10 the cast gathered for a special screening of the premiere episode, where the stars spoke out about the show.

Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has long been a fan-favourite, and fans have been eager to see where his character is headed next season.

Negan took to screens back in season six as the new baseball-bat wielding villain who wasn’t afraid to kill off anyone who got in his way.

However, the character’s most recent appearances seemed to see him undergo a huge character transformation after he saved Judith Grimes from a snow storm (Cailey Fleming).

Speaking to Variety.com, Jeffrey told the publication that his character would continue his redemption arc and this season would see him finally released from jail.

Moreover, AMC CEO Josh Sapan revealed he thinks the show is set to go on for a very long time.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference he teased the show could go on a lot longer than expected.

The CEO revealed: “We have an awful lot of life left in The Walking Dead.

“I mean decades and decades of life left.”

The news comes amid news of low ratings for the franchise.

The show’s spin-off Fear The Walking Dead recently hit a new series low after the season five episode in which rabbi-introducing Ner Tamid hit an all time low.

The episode marked a drastic drop in ratings taking it from figures of 1.44 million viewers in the previous week down to 1.14 million in the US.

The original series The Walking Dead also saw a decline last season with the season nine episode The Calm Before seeing marking a series low.

The Walking Dead returns October 7 on FOX in the UK.
