He may have only played James Bond once, but George Lazenby’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is considered one of the best 007 movies by many. Yesterday, marked the Australian actor’s 80th birthday, with fans sending their best wishes his way. Lazenby shot a short video to say thanks as he reached his ninth decade. He tweeted: “Thank you one and all for the kind birthday wishes, didn’t know I have so many friends. Love and best wishes to all of you. George.”
He said: “Do I have any regrets? Only when I was broke. But I did a Bond film, and that’s all you have to do.
“After that, when I was broke a couple of times, I thought, sh**, I should have done another Bond movie.”
However, on further reflection, Lazenby is pretty certain that he made the right decision.
The former Bond added: “But I thought about how my life would be like if it continued. I’d have had three wives in Beverly Hills, mansions, and been a drug addict.
“I thought, well, I think I did the right thing.”
