Michelle Obama drops bombshell confession on life before husband Barack – 'All in my head'

The former FLOTUS has been offering advice to first-year college students as part of a new YouTube series entitled ‘Reach Higher’. In the video, Michelle reflected on how difficult she found that initial period as she adjusted to college life. Speaking in the video she movingly shared her own experiences with viewers.

She said: “When my dad dropped me off at college, I remember feeling overwhelmed and I have a feeling that some of you might know what I’m talking about.

“You’re not the only ones.”

Michelle has a history of supporting aspiring students.

According to Newsweek, in 2014, Michelle shared another YouTube video – which this time reviewed her struggles at picking a class.

She also revealed she had difficulties finding her classroom and how to furnish her dorm.

She said: “At first I even worried that maybe I wasn’t as smart as some of my classmates but soon enough I realised that was all in my head.

“I was just as smart as everyone else and I had just as much to contribute.

“I just had to have the confidence to believe in myself and the determination to work hard and ask for help when I needed it.”

It comes after Michelle told CBS’ Gayle King about how she and Barack had begun “rediscovering each other” after the couple left the White House two years ago.

Michelle told Ms King people saw her relationship as “hashtag relationship goals”, but she wanted to let people know there were difficult times too.

She added: “Marriage is all nice and cute but then kids show up and they take up all the oxygen in the land.

“That’s why they make the babies cute because you would leave them at the post office.

“I want young people to know that marriage is work. Even the best marriages require work.”
