Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum release LIVE: Time arrives to download latest expansion

The first part of Blizzard’s big Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum expansion is now going live on servers.

The big download should be popping up on PCs and mobile devices around the world, meaning there could be some server disruption.

Like with all big releases, there’s a chance that some players may get it before others, although it appears Blizzard is aiming for a global launch.

As usual, players will have to get to grips with a host of new cards, as well as the new mechanics that have been added along with them.

There’s going to be a lot of news coming out today regarding cards and expansion mechanics via streamers and influencers.

So prepare yourselves for a lot of stories regarding opening the new packs hitting the servers today.

Hearthstone fans can look forward to new keywords, Hero Powers, and 135 new cards to contend with.

Blizzard has confirmed that new Plague cards, boasting powerful, board-sweeping effects will be a major new part of meta gameplay.

The Reborn have also been revealed as restless mummified minions that come back to un-life (with just 1 Health remaining) upon being defeated.

“Starting with Rise of Shadows, and now with Saviors of Uldum, we’re refining game mechanics and exploring new ideas that will add even more layers of depth and strategic decision-making to Hearthstone,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment.

“We think these new cards, as well as the return of fan-favourite heroes from the League of Explorers expansion, will continue making this the game’s most exciting and competitive year ever.”

And as mentioned above, we’re not getting all the new content today that’s being planned for the Saviors expansion.

The League of Explorers will be the stars of the new DLC, taking on the League of E.V.I.L. and enjoying a single-player expansion in September.

“Arch-Villain Rafaam and his band of misguided miscreants have navigated the capital city of Dalaran across the world and have arrived in the land of magical mummies, treacherous tombs, and sand-swept horizons – Uldum!” the official description explains.

“While their ultimate goals are still shrouded in mystery, their disastrous doings in the dunes have unleashed devastating plagues on the land.

“Now it’s up to the League of Explorers (and you!) to stop the League of E.V.I.L. from reaching their nefarious goals.”

The single-player expansion will be called Tombs of Terror but not much else has been revealed about the upcoming content.

Saviors of Uldum card packs will be winnable in Hearthstone’s Arena mode starting with the expansion’s launch on August 6, and players can purchase them with in-game gold or real money at the same prices as Hearthstone’s other card packs.

In addition, players who log in for a limited time after release will be able to claim one of the new Legendary Quest cards, randomly selected from this set.
