Glee alternate ending: Bree returns for huge nationals shakeup?

The final series of ‘Glee’ saw an eventful nationals showdown where the New Directions were joined on stage by their teacher Will Schuester (Played Matthew Morrison) and The Warblers in a final battle for the title.

With good news all round for the school and the club, it seems the final outing had a happy ending.

However, some fans would rather have seen some more familiar faces should have took to the stage one last time.

Reddit user Creep3rKiller said: “So I’m not sure if I’m the only one or not but am I the only one who really wishes they ended season 6 by bringing back Jake, Marley and Ryder to complete the glee club instead of just adding the warblers?

“Then since Unique graduated we could just add Bree for the 12th member?

“I think that would’ve been a really good team, and then the season 4 kids could finally have a nationals win and then they would maybe graduate and start to take over some of the other glee clubs that will makes?

“Idk I think it would be really cool.”

Indeed, the three characters did prove popular with controversial storylines from early on including Bree’s (Erinn Veronica Westbrook) seduction of Jake (Jacob Artist), causing the breakdown of his relationship with Marley (Melissa Benoist).

However, the club did not do as well in the earlier seasons, as the third outing saw the team place twelfth at nationals, missing out on their showcase qualification.

One outing even saw the infamous Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) cancel the club as a result of their loss.

Fans were quick to comment their own ideas for an alternate ending, with one fan wishing for the late Finn Star’s return.

The user said: “My way would be Finn still being alive. Done with college and getting married to Rachel.

“Blaine and Kurt, Santana and Brittany, Mike and Tina, etc. A massive happy ending.

“We get to see the Season 2 Warblers and even the Season 3/4 Warblers get together. Let’s add in the Season 6 Warblers, too. They would all meet up at the Lima Bean.”

Indeed, the original cast has always proven popular among the fandom, with one of the show’s largest hurdles being the tragic death of Cory Monteith who played lead role Finn Hudson.

Cory died in 2013, leaving the show at odds with its ongoing story which was now without one of it’s most memorable characters.

A tribute episode was aired in 2013 titled “The Quarterback”, featuring heartfelt songs including Seasons of Love, and No Surrender.

While the show was eventually wrapped up a season later without Finn, dedicated viewers of the show remained curious about the ending of Finn and Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) story.

While Rachel eventually went on to sing on Broadway, and marry Jesse (Jonathan Groff), fans can only wonder how the finale may have played out should the original cast have been involved.

Glee is available on Netflix now.
