Steph McGovern: BBC Breakfast star praises Stacey Dooley amid her huge news

Steph McGovern, 37, complimented her BBC pal, Stacey Dooley, 32,who won Strictly Come Dancing last year, on Twitter.

The expectant mum called Stacey her “fave journalist” and said she “has it all”, ahead of her new documentary.

Steph re-posted her friend’s interview with The Guardian, and said: “Stacey Dooley is by far my fave journalist on the telly (and she has been for over a decade).

“She has it all….. brains, bravery, warmth, humour, authenticity…. the lot.”

The BBC Breakfast favourite added: “This is a cracking interview with her ahead of her latest documentary.”

In the interview, Stacey finally addressed her relationship with Kevin Clifton, which had been rumoured ever since she broke up with her ex, Sam Tucknott.

Stacey revealed they want to keep their relationship private, as she opened up about the reason why they haven’t spoke about being together.

In an interview with The Guardian, Stacey spilled: “Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.

“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.”

She went on: “What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”

Meanwhile, Steph has been opening up about her own news recently, after revealing she is pregnant with her first child with her girlfriend.

Last week, Steph, who said she had a rough start to her pregnancy, struggled in the heat last week.

She even asked her followers whether it would be “suitable” to wear shorts to work.

She tweeted: “There’s a lot of chat about whether it’s suitable to wear shorts to work.

“Given my bump + potential to overheat, I’m sacking off my usual filming attire and am wearing dungaree shorts to film.

“I know my biz gang @BBCBenThompson + @seanfarrington will be more than jealous. #kneesout.”(sic)

However, Steph admitted to having a “minor concern” about wearing shorts on camera in a follow-up post.

She added: “My minor concern is that the prog I’m filming is not going out until Jan so I’ll probably look a right t*t when it’s on TV and the nation is wearing winter gear!!”(sic)

Steph announced she was pregnant earlier this month and is due in November.

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC from 6am.
