The scene in question saw Nick Fury trying to persuade Peter Parker to help fight the Elementals. But Spider-Man asked if another Avenger could help out like Thor, Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange.
But Maria Hill said of Doctor Strange: “Unavailable”.
Screen Rant points out that this could be because of the events of Doctor Strange 2, which will presumably also take place in 2023 – just like Spider-Man Far From Home.
It’s been three years since Doctor Strange’s first solo outing, but his second is expected in Marvel Phase 4 around 2021 or 2022.
Having a time gap helps the movies catch up to match the year they’re released, as they mostly did before Avengers Endgame’s time jump.
The Freddie Krueger-esque being rules the Dream Dimension and rides a horse called Dreamstalker.
But it sounds like Nightmare won’t be the only villain, with Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo – who turned bad at the end of the last film – set to return too.
After all, Doctor Strange’s post-credits scene saw him teased as a future baddie.
Doctor Strange 2’s title and release date will likely be revealed at Marvel Studios’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con this month.
