The debaters are vying for the chance to challenge the Republican nominee for the Presidency next year. The current incumbent US President Donald Trump quickly tweeted his displeasure at the cut. Trump raged: “NBC News and MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves for having such a horrible technical breakdown in the middle of the debate.
“Truly unprofessional and only worthy of a FAKE NEWS Organization, which they are!”
Mr Trump who is heading to Osaka for the G20 summit where he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping also tweeted to say he found the debate “boring”.
President Trump is set for nine bilateral meetings at the summit due to kick off on Friday.
The debate is the first time the public will have seen some of the hopefuls aiming to take the keys to the White House in January 2021.
A total of ten prospective candidates are were on stage in Miami tonight with another ten set to be on stage tomorrow night.
Twitter users dismissed one of the candidates Beto O’Rourke, a former Texas Congressman began to speak in Spanish when answering one of the questions.
The debate is also being broadcast by Telemundo, a Spanish language station owned by Comcast, who are translating the debate.
Some accused him of pandering, some questioned how fluent he was in the language, but some accused him of avoiding attempting to answer the question.
Mr O’Rourke ran for US Senate after announcing he would contest re-election to the House of Representatives but ultimately lost out to former Republican Presidential nomination candidate Ted Cruz.
