John Cena hints he's not ready to retire from WWE despite growing Hollywood success

Cena is one of WWE’s greatest ever legends as he has been the face of the company since 2005, holds the joint record of most world title reigns with Ric Flair and has beaten some of the all-time greats like The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels and many more.

However, The Champ has stopped performing on a full-time basis for Vince McMahon’s promotion since 2017 due to his advanced age of 42 and his growing acting career in Hollywood.

Many fear that The Leader of the Cenation may be close to the end of his career but he pointed out that the same issue was being brought up in 2009, 2012 and 2015.

The 16-time world champion insists that despite his demanding Hollywood schedule – that will soon see him joining the cast of Fast & Furious 9 – he still thinks about WWE.

And when it comes to retirement, the ex-WWE Champion will save that conversation with himself for when he feels like he can no longer keep up.

Cena told Sports Illustrated: “Whatever the next step is, that’s essentially what I’m contemplating.

“How do I fit in?

“Where do I fit in?

“And it makes it extra peculiar now that all these outside opportunities are coming in, but it couldn’t have happened at a better time.

“There are tremendous opportunities that are being presented that I certainly want to take advantage of, but I could spend all my time talking about WWE.

“I truly love the company, I love the brand.

“I just constantly take assessment of myself.

“I remember, if you jump in the way back machine to 2009, then again in 2012 and again in 2015, people are constantly asking, ‘Well, when are you done?’

“That’s a conversation I’ll have with myself when I am a step slower and I feel I can’t keep up.”
