Chelsea chiefs praised and mega signings predicted after completing 'very good business'

Real Madrid finally announced the signing of Eden Hazard on Friday evening.

The La Liga giants are set to pay Chelsea an initial £88million, which could rise to £130m with add-ons.

Hazard was about to enter the final year of his contract so the Blues chose to cash in and grant the Belgian his dream move.

Chelsea are set to wave goodbye to manager Maurizio Sarri who looks to be heading to Juventus.

But Marcotti says it is not all bleak for the west London side and he expects some big investment into the squad with the money they got from Real Madrid for Hazard.

However, he claims that may not happen for another year due to their transfer ban and as the new manager beds in.

“They’re losing their manager this year and they’re losing the guy who’s arguably been their best player in the last decade,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.

“That’s going to be a blow for anybody.

“Now, they’re also getting potentially up to £130m for a guy who had a year left on his contract and was 28 years old and was going to leave anyway.

“That is very good business, that is very, very good money.

“If they get the right manager in, if they get the right leadership, I think you can feel relatively confident that they can reinvest that.

“Maybe not this summer, maybe this will be a transition year as you would expect under a new manager if Sarri goes.

“But the year after that you would expect them to come back and reinvest in the team and try to close the gap.

“But you’re up against two sides who got 98 and 97 points this past season, one of them is champions of Europe, the other one is Manchester City.

“We’ve all seen what these sides have done.

“That is a really, really big gap to close for any team in the Premier League.”
