Sky TV update is finally bringing the feature fans have been desperately waiting for

Sky TV customers who use the NOW TV streaming service could be set for a major upgrade.

NOW TV has become hugely popular in recent years as it allows Sky fans to watch a swathe of content without having to sign up to a lengthy contract.

All of the firm’s main channels are available via NOW TV with Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Kids and Entertainment streamed straight to TVs without the need for a dish.

Although there’s plenty to love about NOW TV there is one issue as you can’t currently watch content in 1080p full HD quality.

Consumers have been desperate for this upgrade and it seems some changes could be inbound.

Speaking to Pocket-lint a Sky spokeswoman confirmed that they have begun testing streams in higher quality.

“Later this year we will be introducing the option of streaming Now TV both live and on demand in Full HD, with content from the likes of Sky Atlantic, Sky One and Sky Sports,” she said.

“Like any new functionality, we always conduct trials before releasing new products or features to all our customers.”

It’s unclear if prices for watching in full HD will be more expensive than standard quality or when the upgrade will launch but it’s certainly good news for Sky fans who don’t want the burden of a long-term contract.

The news of this update comes as Sky has just revealed that it is offering customers without Sky Box Sets or Ultimate On Demand subscriptions the chance to sample the very best of these services for two weeks only.

The first season of over 30 of Sky’s best box sets will be available on demand to customers, including the latest UK and US dramas, all-time classics and comedies.

Sky says it is launching this bonus content to coincide with the May bank holiday and half-term in the UK with the promotion running from the May 24 to June 9.
