Meghan Markle baby: Prince Harry shows 'excitement' but also 'impatience' amidst baby news

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry became first time parents today in royal baby news which delighted the world. Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duchess of Sussex had gone into labour earlier today, but fans were not left waiting long as Baby Sussex’s gender announcement came via Instagram. It stated the tot, who has not yet been named, had weighed in at 7lbs. 3oz. Shortly afterwards, Prince Harry gave a statement to press at Windsor Castle during which his delight was clear.

Clearly overjoyed, Prince Harry described the birth of his and Meghan’s first child as the “most amazing experience”.

However, the Duke of Sussex admitted that the couple have not yet decided on the boy’s name.

Prince Charles’ son couldn’t keep the smile from his face as he broke the happy news, wearing a white shirt covered by a brown sweater and standing in front of a stable of horses.

Body language expert Judi James spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about Prince Harry’s demeanour, and his secret “impatience” on display.

She told us: “I love the way that Harry tries very hard to be laid-back and cool here up to the point where he talks about the ‘amazing experience’ of the birth, when the strength of his true feelings are shown in the way he erupts in a loud, spontaneous giggle of utter delight.

“His hand-rubbing at the start suggests impatience to be back with his wife and baby but his overwhelming excitement soon becomes obvious when his entire body jumps when he announces the birth of his ‘baby boy’.

“His eyes look down in a partial cut-off that suggests he’s slightly bashful about the strength of his feelings but we can still get a glimpse of acute delight in them when he does glance at the cameras.

“He claps his hands and rubs them again to show his anticipation about choosing the baby’s name but he has to bite his lower lips slightly to suppress the wide grin that is spreading across his face as he lets us know we can all see the baby in a couple of days.

“When he says the ‘little thing is to die for’ the pride and amazement are obvious from his widest of smiles and raised, rounded cheeks.”

Judi added: “But it’s Harry’s eye expression that really lets us know how besotted he is already.

“He’s in that bubble of joy where he loves everyone, including the press and – as he leaves and thanks them too – the horses standing behind him.”

During the interview, the Duke of Sussex said the child was “overdue” which had given them plenty of time to think but he said they needed more time to decide on the perfect name.

The top choices for the baby’s name, according to the bookmakers, is Arthur, James, Phillip and Albert.

Prince Harry said: “We are still thinking about names.

“We have had a little bit of time, the baby is a little bit overdue but that’s the next bit.”
