Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Celebrity chef to sign-up as star drops hint?

Now, one former star has revealed who they would like to take part in Strictly Come Dancing when it returns to screens.

The BBC show has seen a lot of different celebrities sign-up, but could it soon see its first female celebrity chef step to tackle a tango?

Russell Grant starred in the 20111 instalment of the competition where he wowed the crowds with his dances and dazzling costumes.

He’s spoken out about who he wants to sign-up to Strictly.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Russell divulged: “I’d love to see my friend Rustie Lee [on the show]. She’s adorable. I’d love her to be on it.

“In the end of course it’s down to the producers isn’t it.”

The Caribbean cook made a name for herself through her appearances on television station TV-am before moving on to other successful hosting gigs.

She wouldn’t be the only celebrity cook to step onto the dance floor either.

Sunday Brunch chef Simon Rimmer starred on the series back in 2017, meanwhile Ainsley Harriott, Gregg Wallace, Dave Myers, Gary Rhodes and James Martin have all competed too.

Russell explained how he had wanted a former Eurovision winner to sign-up as well.

The astrologer said he had suggested Dana Rosemary Scallon for the competition.

He said: “There have been a lot of people I’ve wanted to sign up. Dana, she did All Kinds of Everything, she won Eurovision.

Russell added: “I suggested her but she never got on. She was huge in the 1980s.”

Dana recently appeared in the BBC Two programme Pilgrimage: The Road To Rome where she joined famous faces including Les Dennis and Brendan Cole in a walk to cover the ancient 2000km Via Francigena route.

One celebrity who fans won’t see on Strictly is legendary footballer and presenter Chris Kamara.

Chris told The Sun that his body was “totally knackered”.

He explained to the publication: “I’ve been invited to do Strictly and they told me who I would be dancing with because, apparently, you have to train with them for six weeks before. But it’s just not going to happen because my body is knackered.

“I got injured just before we filmed Ninja Warrior, which stopped me playing football with my mates. I haven’t played football since. I’m crocked now, my back has gone and I feel like my body has packed in.

“I’m totally knackered now. They’d need some serious WD-40 for me.”

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
