Dumbo streaming: Can you stream Tim Burton's remake online? Is it legal?

Netflix has become a breakthrough streaming service. Not only does the platform create Oscar-winning content, but it debuts these films as well. With continued rumblings around Disney’s imminent streaming platform, many are wondering what the future of cinematic releases might be for Disney movies.

Can you stream Dumbo online?

No, Dumbo has only just come out in cinemas and is not available online and any website claiming to have the full movie to watch is illegal, so steer clear.

Disney will eventually have its own streaming service on which to watch movies like Dumbo.

But for now, you’ll have to head to the cinema if you want to see Tim Burton’s take on the classic Disney tale.

Dumbo has rolled out across almost all European territories.

The last two countries to see the remake are Turkey and Hong Kong, with April 5 and 19 release dates respectively.

The movie debuted in 4,259 cinemas in North America and placed number one at the box office.

However, the film did not fare as well with critics nor with its actual box office takings.

As of writing, Dumbo has made £88 million ($116m) globally.

If Disney wants to recoup its budget, estimated at £129m ($170m), the international market will need to make up a big difference for the studio.

So far reviews have been mixed, leaning towards negative.

Dumbo holds a 50 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, despite its A- cinemascore rating.

Dumbo’s story follows circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) who enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant with oversized ears.

The synopsis continues: “When they discover Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton).

“Vandevere recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland.

“Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.”

Dumbo runs one hour and 52 minutes long, which is almost double its original runtime.

Dumbo is now playing in cinemas.
