That is according to reports from the Daily Record.
Herrera had engaged in drawn-out contract negotiations with Old Trafford executives, but they would not grant the wage demands of the Spaniard.
It is understood that Herrera wanted almost double his current contract worth, which would mean a deal worth around £240,000 a week.
The midfielder’s contract was due to run out in June and will leave on a free transfer.
