Titanfall COUNTDOWN: Release date, Super Bowl 2019 advert, Apex Legends battle royale

Titanfall battle royale is rumoured to be launching soon, with a Super Bowl 2019 advert for Apex Legends allegedly coming ahead of the big release date.

Titanfall fans look set to be getting a brand new free-to-play game from EA and Respawn for PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

According to rumours, the Titanfall battle royale game – allegedly called Apex Legends – will have a release date of Monday February 4 2019.

And it looks like EA could use arguably the biggest show in the world – Super Bowl 2019 – to promote Titanfall Apex Legends.

It’s rumoured that the Titanfall battle royale game will be getting a grand unveiling in one of the much coveted Super Bowl 2019 advert slots.

Rumours of Titanfall Apex Legends were initially revealed by YouTuber The Quartering in a post online.

In the video posted on Friday, the YouTuber claimed big name streamers such as Shroud and Dr DisRespect have been invited to test Apex Legends.

And ahead of the rumoured Titanfall battle royale reveal, the streamers had a “day off” for some “super secret stuff”.

Shroud tweeted: “No stream tmrw, heading down to LA for some super secret stuff.”

While Dr DisRespect posted: “Reminder day off today #ChampionsClub.

“Tomorrow, all day, I’ll be looking so damn good in the Arena…… and you’ll be too.”

Adding further weight to these claims, industry insider Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau said streamers and esports pros have been testing Apex Legends this past week.

Breslau tweeted: “Sources who have played and have knowledge of the game confirm to me that Respawn is set to announce and release Apex Legends on Monday Feb 4, a free to play Titanfall Hero Battle Royale game for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.”

And in a series of tweets Breslau said: “Respawn invited top streamers and esports pros across Battle Royale and other FPS games to playtest Apex Legends in LA this past week.

“Speaking anonymously, multiple attendees said the game felt good and were genuinely excited for it.

“One top BR streamer/player provided their thoughts: ‘The game definitely has A LOT of potential. I don’t think it’ll get old fast either.

“‘Was sad to leave when the time was up and I can’t really say that about any new games in this game drought.

I’m excited to see where it goes.’”

Responding to Breslau’s tweets about Titanfall BR, Kotaku news editor Jason Schreier said it “was true”.

He posted: “This is true. Also, a great way to ensure your game gets leaked is to have a bunch of influencers play it before it’s even announced lol”.

Tweeting at Schreier, Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad said: “Superbowl ad is what I heard.”

He later added: “I mean I could be wrong here. Just what I heard.”

While discussing the Super Bowl 2019 adverts claims, Schreier tweeted: “That was my speculation when I first heard about this but yeah I have no idea when it’s getting officially announced”.

The upcoming EA game will allegedly see teams of three players battle it out against other teams with a maximum of 60 players in one match.

Each player in their team will have a specific role to balance things out and there allegedly will be no Titans in the battle royale mode.

It’s claimed the Titanfall BR game will come with micro-transactions and that in-game currency is easy to earn.

It’s believed that over five characters will be available at launch with two more Titanfall BR characters available to purchase using in-game currency.

• Titanfall Apex Legends is expected to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PCs on Monday February 4. A release time has not been revealed yet.
