Zombieland was a critical hit, with a 90 per cent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But a sequel to the modern zombie movie was never a sure bet. With the ten year challenge, however, Sony let slip the upcoming sequel’s existence, its title, and a brand new addition to the cast…
When is the Zombieland 2 release date?
Zombieland 2, whose official title is Zombieland Double Tap, will be out in cinemas on October 11, 2019.
The first film came out ten years ago to fan and critical acclaim.
But the creators were adamant a sequel was not in the works.
Speaking to LRM, director Reuben Fleischer said: “I think collectively we all felt very strongly that the only circumstance we’d be willing to make the movie is if it’s as good or better than the original and none of us was willing to compromise on the quality of the movie.”

What is the plot of Zombieland Double Tap?
According to Deadline: “Zombieland 2 the sequel centres on the comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland.
“The zombie slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors.
“Most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”
So far, no other details about the plot have been released from Sony.

Who is in the cast of Zombieland 2?
The original cast is set to return, with Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock.
Rosario Dawson has also been announced as a new addition to the cast.
Her role is so far unspecified, and she does not appear in the new poster.
She joins Zombieland series newcomers Zoey Deutch (Set It Up) and Avan Jogia (Caprica).

Is there a trailer for Zombieland Double Tap?
No, but there is a brand new poster shared by Sony in honour of the ten-year challenge.
Ruben Fleischer is set to return as director of the sequel, having just directed the blockbuster Venom.
Zombieland’s original screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are also returning to pen Zombieland 2’s screenplay.
Zombieland Double Tap is out in cinemas October 11, 2019.
