Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd LIVE: Mesut Ozil on bench, Pogba and Sanchez start in FA Cup

ARSENAL VS MAN UTD LIVE

  • Arsenal seeking to inflict first defeat on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man Utd
  • Gunners manager Unai Emery eyes first trophy
  • United on a seven-game winning streak
  • Alexis Sanchez tipped to play against former club Arsenal.

The two most successful teams in FA Cup history go head-to-head at the Emirates for a place in the last-16.

Manchester United head to London in superb form, rejuvenated under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer is in charge following the sacking of Jose Mourinho and has led the Red Devils to victory in each of his first seven matches in the dugout.

The Norwegian is not expected to remain past the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino United’s No 1 target but leading the club to a 13th FA Cup crown could change things.

For Arsenal, manager Unai Emery is looking to build on last weekend’s Premier League win over Chelsea.

The Gunners were comfortable 2-0 winners over the Blues and will look to get a step closer to a record 14th FA Cup.

There are mixed memories of Cup clashes for the pair with Ryan Giggs’ memorable solo goal arguably United’s best recollection of this clash.

That came in the 1999 semi-final replay as Manchester United won a remarkable treble.

Arsenal got their revenge in the 2005 final, winning on penalties.

The last meeting in the FA Cup between the pair saw Danny Welbeck score the winner against his former club as Arsenal won 2-1 in 2015.

10: It’s Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young defending down that side for Manchester United but Unai Emery obviously thinks that’s the way to go.

Alexis Sanchez is being roundly booed by his former fans but the Chilean is starting to come into the game for a bit more.

United will be hoping he and Pogba can have more of an impact. The Frenchman has been very quiet in the opening ten minutes.

6: Arsenal are finding early joy down United’s right and a poor Lacazette touch lets the Frenchman down.

Early stages but still no clear cut chances as yet.

3: United had an early corner following an Ainsley Maitland-Niles mistake but it was comfortably cleared. Sead Kolasinac then burst down the left but his cross was cut out.

1: And after a moment to pay respects following the disappearance of Emiliano Sala, we are underway in this FA Cup tie.

Players on their way

The teams of both Arsenal and Manchester United are in the tunnel and we are just moments away from kick off.

This is a big game for both teams and the big guns are out. Will it be glory for Lacazette and Aubameyang or will Sanchez, Pogba and Lukaku head back to Manchester happy?

We are just about to find out.

Fifteen minutes to go

We are just 15 minutes from kick-off.

Lose tonight and it’s season over for either team in terms of winning a trophy.

Earn victory and you’ve knocked a competitor out so it’s all to play for.

Of course, if it’s a draw, it’s off to Old Trafford for a replay.

Best option for Arsenal

Gunners legend Martin Keown believes that Laurent Koscielny’s partnership with Sokratis at the back is the best Arsenal have got.

He said: “The team is very flexible but i think they are a bit concerned about Maitland-Niles.

“The defensive partnership has been unsure. Shkodran Mustafi is in and out of form, Laurent Koscielny coming back is key.

“Sokratis doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Those two look the best Arsenal partnership.”

Solskjaer reveals game plan

With Romelu Lukaku in the starting line-up, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at what type of style his team may adopt.

“Rom gives us a physical presence up front, we might get more crosses into him,” Solskjaer said.

“Alexis [Sanchez] is champing at the bit. We need to get him going again, he’s been out for a few weeks.”

Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez special?

Alexis Sanchez is somewhat of an FA Cup specialist.

The Chilean twice won the competition with Arsenal and helped United to last season’s final.

Indeed, in his 19 appearances in the FA Cup, he has been involved in 18 goals.

Sanchez has netted nine times in the competition and also has nine assists.
