NTA 2019: Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield SNUB co-host in acceptance speech

This Morning picked up the accolade for Best Daytime show and so all those involved in the programme at the ceremony took to the stage.

Main presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield delivered a speech to the crowd where they thanked fans and those who were part of putting the programme together.

However, they ended up almost missing out one vital component of the ITV show, presenter Alison Hammond.

As they almost failed to namecheck Alison, she stepped in to make sure they didn’t.

Phillip told the audience: “Alison Hammond’s just tapped me and said, ‘And me!’.”

“Thank you, thank you everyone,” Alison said as she made her way to stand next to Holly.

Those watching at home were tickled by Alison making sure she had a moment to bask in the limelight and took to Twitter to comment.

“Alison Hammond making damn well sure she was getting her moment on camera. love her @AlisonHammond2 #NTAs,” one shared.

Another opined: “Alison Hammond is a national treasure tbh #NTAs.”

“Dame Alison Hammond making damn well sure she was getting her moment on camera #NTAs,” a third wrote.

A fourth laughed: “Alison Hammond getting her moment in haha what a ledge #NTAs.”

“Alison Hammond is everything #thismorning #NTAs,” a fifth simply tweeted.

Holly and Phillip have garnered something of a reputation for presenting This Morning hungover the morning after the NTAs.

After their win tonight, Phillip teased drinking could be on the cards following their victory.

He told press backstage at the event: ”We never plan anything.

“Holly said to me this morning before we did the show, ‘D’you know what? I think I might take it easy this year’ – and I watched her crumble all throughout the day!”

But Holly added how it was “important” to celebrate such achievements.

She said: ”We have to celebrate these moments when they come, right?

“I have a feeling when we’re old, we’ll say, ‘Once upon a time, I was nominated for an NTA’, and our grandchildren won’t believe us! So I want to celebrate it now.”

The NTAs are available to watch on the ITV Hub.
