Aquaman budget: Has Aquaman made back its budget? How much did Aquaman cost?

Warner Bros has not always been able to replicate the success of its main competitor, Marvel. Most WB movies were deemed flops by critics and fans alike but Wonder Woman broke the pattern. Now Aquaman is swimming in the same successful direction, both with fans and at the box office.

Has Aquaman made back its budget?

Aquaman has now joined the ranks of Avengers: Infinity War and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom making more than one billion dollars globally.

Aquaman’s domestic takings came in at £224.1 million ($287.8), with its gross taking over the one billion dollar mark.

Aquaman’s production costs came in at around £124.59m ($160 m) which is the second-lowest budget in the DCEU behind Wonder Woman £116.80 m ($150m).

Like Wonder Woman, Aquaman has proven itself to be a boon to Warner Bros adaptations of DC Comics.

AQUAMAN END CREDITS SCENE EXPLAINED: DO THE JUSTICE LEAGUE APPEAR?

Aquaman is Warner Bros second largest grossing movie ever overseas and the director James Wan released a statement regarding the movie’s success.

Wan said: “Firstly, Massive love and thank you to the fans and audiences around the world.

“Humbled by the way you’ve embraced Aquaman and how it has resonated on a global scale.

“I’ll forever be indebted to Jason for turning Aquaman into one of the coolest, cinematic superheroes ever, and becoming the gold standard for this character for generations to come.

AQUAMAN ENDING SONG: WHO WROTE AQUAMAN ENDING SONG EVERYTHING I NEED?

“Huge thank you to the amazing cast — Amber, Patrick, Nicole, Yahya, Willem, Temuera, Dolph, Ludi — for breathing life into our beloved characters.

“And, of course, this movie wouldn’t be what it is without the incredible achievement of everyone involved, from the heads of department to every single crew member, who demanded utmost excellence in helping design and create this cinematic experience.”

Ron Sanders, Warner Bros’ Worldwide Distribution President, said: “We’re thrilled audiences around the world have embraced Aquaman in such a big, big way.

Jason, the filmmakers and the team at DC have delivered a film that people love, and we are so appreciative of their support.”

AQUAMAN POST CREDITS: DOES THE MID-CREDITS SCENE REVEAL ANOTHER MOVIE?

Warner Bros performed well last year with a studio record of $5.57B worldwide and $3.62B international.

Aquaman held the top spot in the box office for three weeks in the row, only recently toppled by The Upside.

Rotten Tomatoes gives Aquaman an aggregated score of 64 percent, with an audience score of 79 percent.

Given its success, Aquaman will likely get a sequel promised in its post-credits scene.

Jason Momoa already has an idea for a sequel, as does James Wan.

Aquaman is now playing in cinemas.
