Meghan Markle making subtle wardrobe change as due date draws closer – have you noticed?

Meghan Markle, 37, is pregnant with her first baby with husband Prince Harry, 34, and the couple’s child is due to arrive in the spring – with many predicting the tot will be born as soon as February. The Duchess of Sussex has had all eyes on her blossoming baby bump since announcing her pregnancy news in October last year. Despite being rumoured to be in her third trimester, Meghan has continued to stick to her trademark style of midi dresses and heels throughout her pregnancy. However, one fashion expert has noticed a small change in the Duchess’ style as she gets further along in her pregnancy journey.

Julia Aitken, of Stanwells Boutique, said Meghan is slowly ditching her high heels for comfier alternatives.

She told Express.co.uk: “We can see a transformation in Meghan’s footwear, as she is slowly ditching those high heel shoes for those closer to ground heights; pumps and lace front hiker boots have been spotted on the Duchess more recently.”

During Meghan’s recent visit to Smart Works, a charity that helps unemployed women get back into the workplace, the wife of Prince Harry wore a pair of shoes she’s owned for years – seemingly hinting they’re one of her most comfortable options.

The Duchess wore the Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ heels in Cow Print – heels which previously appeared on her now-defunct Instagram account before she became a Royal Family member.

And to the Christmas Day church service just a few weeks ago, Meghan wore a chunky pair of knee-high boots with a sturdy heel.

Fashion expert Julia also gave her opinion on Meghan’s maternity style as a whole, saying the former Suits actress hasn’t strayed from her classic style.

“It’s great to see Meghan has not deviated too much from her classic style during her pregnancy,” she continued.

“On her recent tour to Australia she was seen in one of her signature shirt dresses, not trying to hide her bump in a Veronica Beard belted style. The result, she looks fresh and glamorous as always.”

Meghan has also stuck to her favourite colours, including dark greens and blues.

The Stanwells boutique owner continued: “In the ongoing weeks she has stuck to her favourite navy hue, with highlights of forest green or Burgundy.

“Her clever addition of a statement coat throughout her pregnancy, such as a checked or taupe swing style, adds an on-trend 90s edge to her maternity wardrobe.

“Her favourite coat and jacket designer, Smythe, had record sales of the Pagoda coat that Megan has worn on numerous occasions.

“We even saw a hint of Jackie O in the Givenchy navy coat dress she wore back in October for Eugenie’s wedding.”

Meghan’s royal role officially got underway this week, as her four patronages were announced by Kensington Palace.

In a statement released on January 10, the royal palace said: “The Duchess of Sussex will become Patron of four organisations that reflect the causes and issues with which she has long been associated including the arts, access to education, support for women and animal welfare.”

The Duchess has become the patron of the National Theatre, Smart Works, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and Mayhew – a charity supporting animal welfare.
