Meghan Markle’s, 37, half-brother Thomas Markle Jr, 52, has apparently been arrested for drink-driving. According to TMZ, he was driving by Oregon State Police when police stopped him at 1.33am. Police are said to have taken him into custody for impaired driving. The US website claims police performed a field sobriety test and “his impairment was obvious”.
Thomas, who shares the same father as Meghan, was apparently found to be well over the legal limit.
Meghan, who is pregnant with her first baby, and Thomas Jr are half-siblings on their father’s side, as they share the same dad, Thomas Markle Sr, 74.
The former Suits actress’ mother is Doria Ragland, 62, whom she has a very close relationship with.
Ever since Meghan’s engagement to Prince Harry, 34, was announced in November 2017 some of her relatives have spoken out about their relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.
Thomas Markle Sr often speaks publicly about his estranged relationship with his daughter, after failing to attend the Royal Wedding due to struggles with his health.
Thomas Jr was once thought to have a close relationship with half-sister Meghan, but the two have not spoken for some time.
He now lives in Oregon and works as a window fitter.
For 11 years Thomas Jr was married to Tracy Dooley, and the pair have two sons.
He has previously been arrested in 2017, for allegedly holding a gun to a woman’s head during an argument.
Thomas was later charged with menacing, posting a firearm at another person, and unlawful use of a weapon.
He is currently engaged to fiancée Darlene Blout and the pair were not invited to Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May 2018.
Speaking to The Mirror at the time, Thomas explained: “I’m not bitter, just baffled. It’s hurtful given how close we once were.
“I’m confused and a little distraught because here is a person knowing the position she’s in and knowing the scrutiny she’s under and yet she has forgotten her flesh and blood.”
Both of Meghan’s half-siblings, including Samantha Markle, continue to give interviews about the Duchess.
Ahead of the Royal Wedding he infamously sent Prince Harry a letter saying: “It’s not too late. Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you.”
He also branded the nuptials a “fake fairytale”.
Thomas later backtracked on his claims, saying they were written in a “moment of madness”.
