Star Wars 9 title was predicted by Futurama 19 years ago – and THIS is what it was

The cult classic animation series, set in the 31st Century, had an episode back in 2000 that saw its characters standing outside a cinema. What was the movie playing? Star Wars 9. As if Hollywood would have waited ten more centuries before making the sequel trilogy.

The title on the marquee is… Yoda’s Bar Mitzvah.

Somehow, it seems unlikely that it will turn out to be the actual title of the upcoming film.

Whatever it is, it seems very likely that the moniker will be unveiled at some point in the very near future.

The Last Jedi’s name was revealed on January 23 – and given that its release date was in mid-December, much like Episode 9’s, it stands to reason that this new movie could follow a similar schedule.

Plus, it’s been claimed that a trailer has already been edited together, indicating that the marketing machine is ready to go.

Sources told the Star Wars-specific news site Making Star Wars that “it has been seen by so few people at this point, details are scant”.

And again, nothing is confirmed by LucasFilm at this point and remains pure speculation.

Little is known about the plot of Episode 9 but over the festive period, the late Carrie Fisher’s brother Todd said he was very happy with the Leia scenes.

“There’s a lot of minutes of footage,” he told Good Morning America. “I don’t mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline.

“That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick. It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.

“We’re not allowed to talk about the details of anything, but we’re thrilled at what’s been done.”

Star Wars 9 is out in December.
