Meghan Markle news: Why Harry won’t want his wife to return to Suits amid cameo rumours

Meghan Markle, 37, will apparently soon be asked whether she wants to return to the series that made her famous, Suits. The Duchess of Sussex starred on Suits for seven years, before leaving her role as Rachel Zane to marry Prince Harry in May 2018. But it’s now been reported the former actress has been offered “millions” for a charity cameo in the show that made her famous. According to the Daily Star, the show’s bosses want Meghan to return for one last episode.

The publication claim the cameo would last less than two minutes, with the Duchess receiving a hefty cheque in return.

But instead of accepting the cash for herself, Meghan could nominate one of her husband Harry’s charities to receive the money – this would also avoid any tax issues.

Executives at NBC Universal said Meghan’s cameo could even be filmed in the UK, with Meghan needed for less than a day to film the scenes.

“We could be done in half a day or less,” a senior production source told the newspaper.

He added: “No final figure has yet been arrived at but negotiations are likely to be opened in the very near future.

“I’ve heard sums ranging from two to six million being kicked around, and that sounds a lot – but it would be one of the biggest marketing coups in TV history.”

However, the Royal Family and especially the Queen and Prince Harry are unlikely to give their approval of the offer – especially as the Duchess will soon welcome her first child with Harry.

Prince Harry is known to value his privacy and even issued a statement in the early days of his relationship with Meghan to urge the press to respect his future wife.

The statement, issued by Kensington Palace, said: “[Harry is] also aware that there is significant curiosity about his private life.

“He has never been comfortable with this, but he has tried to develop a thick skin about the level of media interest that comes with it.”

Meghan returning to star in Suits would only fuel the headlines about his wife, so the Duke of Sussex would unlikely be happy with her return to TV.

The statement, shared in November 2016, also said: “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.

“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.

“He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”

Meghan’s final episode on Suits aired in April 2018 – one month before her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry.

Viewers saw her marry her on-screen boyfriend Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams in her last scenes of the show.

Patrick also left the show at the same time.
