Strictly's Shirley Ballas the matchmaker hints she has 'found love'

The 58-year-old first sparked rumours about her love life after sporting a sparkler on her engagement finger at the Pride of Britain Awards in October.Β She was reported as saying it was a “special ring” and gave a cheeky smile when she was asked about it, but refused to be drawn on who had given it to her. However, in the Express Saturday’s magazine today the Merseyside-born judge suggested there may be a new man in her life as she talked about her forthcoming slot on This Morning Matchmaker Mountain, which will feature from January 8.

In the new show she helps a group of over 50s find love in Morocco.

Shirley said: “Aside from Strictly, this is absolutely the best thing that I’ve ever done. I met three amazing women and men [the contestants] who I will remain friends with forever. We just all gelled.

“The three dates they went on were all different – some ride a camel, some go on a cooking class and others had a spa day. There’s always potential. Maybe I’m the one who found love.”

Her representative has previously denied she is engaged.

And she herself claimed back in the summer that she was unlucky in love and had not been on a date in three years.

Shirley said: “I’m hopeless, hopeless, hopeless. I never get it right.”

The Latin champion has tied-the-knot twice, first to professional dancer and teacher Sammy Stopford then to Corky Ballas, the father of her musical theatre star son Mark.

She said: “When I married Sammy, my first husband, we were both just so young.

“But I’ve had a hugely successful career and I owe a lot of what I learnt in the industry to him. He was already a top professional and I was a nobody really.”

Shirley, who divides her time between London and Los Angeles, said viewers were in for a treat with her show.

She said: “I’ve been single for a long time and this renewed my faith that there are lots of men and women out there like myself, and that there was no need to be nervous.”
