Susan Boyle 2018: Singer breaks silence with rare social media post ahead of big return

The 57-year-old Britain’s Got Talent star has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years. However, she is set to return to the spotlight when she takes part in America’s Got Talent: The Champions next month. Having previously teased her upcoming venture, Susan Boyle shared a festive message with her 27,000 Twitter followers yesterday. “Wishing all of my wonderful fans a very Merry Christmas,” she wrote.

“I hope your day is filled with lots of love, joy and laughter!”

Fans took to the comments section to return the Christmas wishes, with one saying: “Same to you Susan. I want to see you and hear you soon. You are an inspiration.”

“Thank you for being you and for your wonderful music,” another chipped in. “Hope to hear more songs by you in 2019.”

“Merry Christmas. Was hoping a new album was coming this year,” a third added.

Susan’s fanbase are clearly excited to have her back on the scene.

Earlier this month, she was pictured out and about in Blackburn, West Lothian, with a female companion.

The outing came after Susan confirmed she would be returning to screens in America’s Got Talent.

She will be competing on the series alongside fellow Britain’s Got Talent stars including sword swallower Alex Magala, Ashley and Sully and shadow theatre troupe Attraction.

Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel will serve on the judging panel and the show will be hosted by Terry Crews.

In October, Susan hinted at her comeback in a video message to fans on Twitter, in which she said: “I’ve been away for a while but I’m back now with some surprises for you. Watch this space…”

The opera singer shot to fame on BGT back in 2009 when she blew the judges away with her audition, in which she sang I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.

Despite not winning the series, she had sold over 25 million records worldwide.

Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, spent four weeks at number one in the UK charts when she released it in 2009.

Susan was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome in 2013 after she had been misdiagnosed as suffering from brain damage as a child.

That year, she also lost two stone after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

She has avoided the limelight since the release of her latest album, A Wonderful World, in late 2016 but is now set to make her comeback.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions starts January 7 at 8pm Eastern Time on NBC.
