Anthony Joshua ‘would rather fight Deontay Wilder’ than Tyson Fury because of THIS

That is according to Abel Sanchez, the leading boxing trainer at Big Bear, where Fury spent the first part of his camp.

The altitude training Fury underwent at The Summit, Big Bear Lake seemed to pay off in his scrap with Wilder, as the 30-year-old entered the 12th round with more gas in the tank despite a ninth-round knockdown.

His 6ft 9in frame was shaken once again, however, in the final round.

After a devastating right-left combination from The Bronze Bomber, Fury fell flat on his back but somehow managed to beat the count.

The Englishman paraded around the ring after the final bell, believing he had outpointed the WBC heavyweight world champion, but the judges came to a controversial split decision draw.

There is already clamour for a rematch between the pair, but both men have a wandering eye on Joshua.

The WBA, IBF and WBO champion engaged in talks to fight Wilder during the summer but neither party to come to an agreement on the purse split.

Sanchez, who trained former unified middleweight champion of the world Gennady Golovkin, believes that AJ will do his utmost to avoid Fury after The Gypsy King’s impressive display in Los Angeles.

“I truly believe that Tyson Fury is a more dangerous fighter,” Sanchez told BBC 5 Live Sport.

“If Tyson Fury keeps his wits about him, he is so awkward and so elusive.

“The only reason he got knocked down, in my opinion, is because he got a little bit sloppy.

“But Anthony Joshua would rather fight Deontay Wilder if he had a choice.”

With a rematch expected, Joshua will likely face the winner of Dillian Whyte vs Dereck Chisora on April 13 at Wembley Stadium.

Fury differs in opinion to Sanchez, claiming that he avoided a Wilder fight this year and will continue to dodge The Bronze Bomber.

“It’s no secret that Joshua did not want this fight,” Fury claimed.

“And he didn’t want it for a reason, because Deontay Wilder is the most fiercest puncher in boxing history, in heavyweight division history.

“And I saw that tonight, and I felt it.

“No wonder AJ didn’t want no part of that right hand, oh, he can’t move like me – he would have been nailed!”
